A Laminated Elastomeric Bearing typically consists of a number of Elastomeric layers sandwiched between mild steel plates. The Load bearing capacity of these Bearings depends upon the effective Plan Area of the Bearing, whilst the shear capacity of the bearing is a direct function of the sum of the Elastomeric layer thickness.
The Elastomeric Bearing provides Translation and Rotation by virtue of internal deflection.
On the other hand, Plain Bearing Pads or Plain Bearing Strips are typically unreinforced & not more than 25 mm thick. The Elastomeric Bearings can be provided in combination with PTFE sliding assemblies.
